Thanksgiving in the United States is a time to reflect and celebrate the things in your life that you're grateful for, and many celebrate by going around the table to share what it is they're giving thanks for this year. We did something similar, here at IngramSpark, and shared why we're thankful for authors. Here are a few of ours; feel free to share with us what authors have done for you over on our Twitter or Facebook page!
Robin Cutler, Director of IngramSpark
Whenever I go anywhere, I consciously look for readers—what they are reading and in what format. I’m thankful that I’m seeing more readers enjoying print editions of books everywhere I go. For this Thanksgiving, I’m thankful for the thousands of authors around the world who work tirelessly to create beautiful books that elevate the human spirit.
Craig Pollock, Senior Manager Client Services
There are many reasons to be thankful for authors and books. They teach you something new and bring people together. The more you read, the more you know, so share a story with family and friends as you celebrate Thanksgiving this year.
Kristin Eastman, Marketing Manager
Each year I create a reading goal; this year it was 30 books. I usually split my reading time between different types of book genres. I'll read a fun and easy fiction read. I'll read humorous mysteries. I’ll read a non-fiction book to help me learn a new perspective or something that will help my personal growth. Each year I’m entertained and educated by authors. I’m thankful for all of the authors that share their creativity, joy and knowledge with the world. They’ve helped me grow in so many ways.
Lindsay Jenkins, Manager Client Services
I am thankful for those brave authors out in the world that take the time and sometimes dedicate their lives to telling their stories so they can help others. I have personally found much comfort in the stories shared by authors that have taken hard paths in life or have been brave enough to use a different path. Books have the power to provide insight, point you in a new direction, or create the desire to change.
Justine Bylo, Key Account Sales Manager
I'm thankful for the new worlds authors create to let us escape for a little while. Authors inspire me with their creativity and hard work every day!
Nathan Pabst, Business Operations Analyst
I'm thankful for the special ability authors have—through writing—to introduce ideas, challenge our opinions, start a new dialogue, and translate our experiences for generations to come.
Laura Henzel, Client Services Supervisor, Client Relations
I'm thankful to authors around the world for providing invaluable content, without which we could not accomplish the Ingram mission.
Renee Lamine, Marketing Coordinator
I'm thankful for the people and places authors introduce me to that can be so different from my everyday surroundings or hit incredibly close to home with my own personal experiences. To me, authors are advocates, educators, wizards, and idols, and my world would be significantly smaller, and my knowledge significantly lesser, without them.
