This explosion in popularity has given rise to a new wave of themed events where fans and authors come together to celebrate their love of LOVE at book festivals, signing events, reader conventions, lavish romance balls, and galas. What makes these romance and romantasy events stand out is that they aren't all just about books. July 25-26: RomantiConn 2025: A Romance Author Signing Event—Trumbull

An event where authors and readers share their love of fangirling, book-boyfriends, and all things related to books and romance. Friday will offer panels, lunch, a podcast, and a signing with 18 vendors and 65 authors. Saturday offers a signing with 20 vendors and 115 authors. All ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

July 12: Feel the Heat Romance Book Bash—Tampa

Ready for a sizzling day filled with your favorite romance authors? Whether you're into sweet romance or steamy tales of love, this event has something for everyone. Meet and mingle with writers, discover new books, and maybe even find a new book boyfriend. For all ages.

July 19: Writers on the River—East Peoria

This public event has over 100 romance authors in one room, including New York Times and USA Today bestsellers. Chat with them, get selfies together, or buy a signed book. For all ages.

TENNESSEE

July 12: Flirty in Tennessee—Chattanooga

Formerly known as Roaring Readers at The Read House, this book signing and community event features authors, book lovers, and fans of romance novels, with a focus on authors from Tennessee. Includes opportunities to connect with authors and other readers. For all ages, but there will be some authors with 18+ content in attendance. 

VIRGINIA

July 19-20: Sinful Signings—Roanoke

A sinfully fun weekend full of bookish debauchery: two days of author signings and opportunities to meet some popular romance BookTok creators. Some favorite narrators will be in attendance, as well, and there'll be bookish vendors onsite with their wares. Ages 18+.

July 26-27: Wonderland: Midlands Masquerade & Book Signing 2025—Nottingham

An exquisitely unique and unforgettable experience, with beloved authors at this multi-genre book signing and masquerade ball. Spend the day with friends both old and new, visit with authors and get your books and merchandise signed; or take part in the Wonderland Treasure Hunt. Step into a fairy tale world for the masquerade ball with three-course meal included. A new romance book convention featuring author signings and events. Daily activities with a pajama party on Saturday night and Dress-Like-Your-Favorite-Book-Character event on Sunday night. An 18+ event.

August 8-9: The Night Court Ball, Chapter 2—Atlanta

Book Lush Events presents the second Night Court Ball to celebrate all things fae and revel in an exciting weekend. Enjoy karaoke night on Friday, and a summer soiree and the ball on Saturday. An 18+ event.

August 14-17: Once Upon a Con—Gaylord National Harbor

Don't miss the nation’s first fantasy book convention located in Gaylord National Harbor, MD. Immerse yourself in your favorite bookish worlds with 300+ vendors and guest authors, exciting panels and workshops, TTRPG room, plus the Starfall Masquerade and High Fantasy Fashion Show. An event dedicated to spicy romance created by spicy romance lovers. Enjoy a weekend celebrating the books and authors that bring our darkest fantasies to light and introduce things we never thought we’d love. Attendees must be 18+ to attend author signing and 21+ to attend the ball.

August 7-8: Myriad - Fantasy & Romance Book Festival—Minneapolis

August 8: Romance Genrecon 2025—Kansas City

This year's celebration of romance will feature returning favorites plus new authors, workshops, and activities. Friday opportunities include workshops for authors and aspiring authors and a spotlight on  featured authors at the Lady KC Reading Salon. Recommended for ages 16+.

August 15-17: EnchantiCon—St. Louis

A new and expanded event celebrating readers' favorite fantastical universes, EnchantiCon  features fan-favorite guests, entrancing authors, and legendary creators, plus all the in-depth, interactive programming and cosplay that nerdy hearts desire. All ages welcome.

NEVADA

August 22-23: Be Love Spread Love Author Event—Las Vegas

An opportunity for readers to meet their favorite authors, participate in various activities such as a pool party meet and greet, and attend a burlesque soirée with after-dark author readings. Author signing open to all ages; some events like the Pool Party or After Dark Readings are 21+.

August 9: Sistah Girls Book Club Presents Behind the Pen—New York City

An author event specifically focused on celebrating and connecting with Black independent romance authors and their readers, where readers can meet their favorite authors, get books signed, and enjoy a social atmosphere with fellow romance lovers. August 23: Enchanted Realm Bookish Ball: The Starborn Soirée—Akron

August 30: Love in the Queen City—Cincinnati

For this annual, exclusive book signing event, 40+ authors come together for a five-hour signing, followed by an LED casino night with tons of prizes to be won. An 18+ event.

A conference for romance writers about all things romance writing, publishing, & marketing. Features author workshops, panels, meals, a masquerade event, and an awards gala. Recommended for ages 16+.

August 2: Red Dirt Romance Book Event—Oklahoma City

Presented by RomanceLahoma. Purchase books from attending authors and have them signed during this 3-hour book event. Attendees must be 18+, as there may be adult content and SWAG provided by signing authors.

September 20-21: Getting Witchy with It in Salem 2025—Salem

Designed for dark romance fans and those who enjoy spooky themes, this immersive experience  features bookish vendors, book signings, themed activities, and meet-and-greets. An annual gathering for romance book fans, featuring book signings, panels, parties, and vendor shopping, with a focus on romance authors and narrators. For ages 18+.

October 24-25: Spellbound in the Valley—Poughkeepsie

An enchanting and immersive gathering bringing together over 100+ authors and vendors for an unforgettable weekend filled with creativity, inspiration, and excitement. Featuring Dark Romance, Dark Fantasy, Horror, Thriller, Psychological, Monsters, Paranormal, and many more types of haunting literary vibes. The event will also host a VIP dinner and a costume party. October 25: The Dark Revel - Villains Ball—Toledo

Step into the moonlit halls of history for a night where elegance meets intrigue. This exclusive soirée, hosted within the opulent and storied walls of the Toledo Club, invites you to embrace your inner mischief-maker for an evening of decadence and daring. Dress to impress in your finest villainous attire. Masks are encouraged. Ages 18+ for the book signing and 21+ for the party.

October 31-November 1: VillainSCon2025—Rock Hill

All ages are welcome at this fan convention where villainy of all fandoms can come together. From television and film, to anime, games, and comics. A celebration of going against the status quo. A congregation of villainy, bringing together a plethora of fans, cosplayers, artists, gamers, and other persons of interests.

October 4: The Traveling Bookshelf—Grand Prairie

The event brings together authors and readers in a fun and relaxed setting, with a particular emphasis on authors writing in the romance genre. Features a variety of romance subgenres and offers a platform for authors to connect with readers and sell their books. For all ages. 

October 12: Book Boyfriend Bash 2025—Midland

A day filled with all things bookish and swoon-worthy! Get ready to meet your favorite authors, take pictures with your favorite book boyfriends, shop bookish merch and mingle with fellow book lovers. No age limit to attend, but subject matter is recommended for mature audiences.

October 17-19: Books on the Ground—Houston

A one-of-a-kind event that seamlessly blends the love of literature with the excitement of Trail Ride culture. At this Black indie author festival created to spotlight, celebrate, and support urban fiction, romance, and Black literary excellence, meet and mingle with favorite authors, savor specialty drinks, peruse bookish vendors, and learn the latest in line dances. Ages 21+.

October 25: Wanderlust Signing Event—San Antonio

This small signing event, while not as large as a convention, allows for a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere, where you can take your time to meet and chat with all the authors. There will be plenty of time to meet everyone and have meaningful interactions. No age restrictions, but event is geared towards 18+.

WISCONSIN

October 9-11: Benevolent Ball—Oshkosh

Fantasy meets reality in this three-day event for fans of fantasy. From a Movie Pajama Night to a Boozy Book Club Meet & Greet, to a ball where you can either create your own story or come as yourself as you select an elemental court and choose your formal fantasy attire. Ages 18+.

October 4: Romantasy Fair 2025—'s-Hertogenbosch

A one-evening all-inclusive event combining a Book Festival and Fantasy Ball. Throughout the evening, you can meet authors and get your book signed, join workshops and shop for magical items and limited editions. Then the venue transforms into a magical Fantasy Ball with cosplayers, music, and fairytale aesthetics. For ages 18+.

UNITED KINGDOM

October 24-25: Authors at the Armouries—Leeds

AATA brings hundreds of international authors and readers together for an annual literary event like no other. One of the north’s largest book fairs, AATA gives book lovers of romance (and all genres) the opportunity to meet their favorite authors in person and have their books signed. Anyone between the ages of 12 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult, due to the potential for mature themes.

October 30-November 2: World Fantasy Convention 2025—Brighton

A prestigious event dedicated to the fantasy genre. With an emphasis on literary fantasy, this con is perfect for writers and publishers looking to immerse themselves in discussions about craft, publishing trends, and the future of speculative fiction. All attendees, including those on the program, need to purchase a membership or day ticket to access the convention, even the social areas. Children under 16 must be supervised by an adult member at all times.

November 21-22: Love & Tech Bookfest—Santa Clara

Founded by Brittany Arreguin (she/her), a romance author with years of experience in hospitality and event planning, the mission of this festival is to foster community within the romance genre and uplift romance authors, including those from marginalized identities. For all ages.

FLORIDA

November 6-7: Enchantment Con—Jacksonville

A two-day event organized by Hall of Heroes, featuring themed "Realms" with enhanced audio and visual experiences, alongside anime, fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and steampunk programming. For all ages, but attendees under the age of 7 must have a valid badge or wristband during the event. 

INDIANA

November 7-8: Enchanted Kingdom Ball and Fantasy Faire—South Bend

Step into a realm of enchantment at this two-day celebration where imagination comes alive. Fantasy Ball is for 18+ guests; Fantasy Merchant Faire is open to all ages. The Ball is 18+ and the Fantasy Faire is open to all ages.

November 21-23: Fables and Flames Romantasy Book Gala—Minneapolis

A Steampunk fairytale weekend with a difference - Steam Trains! The Butterley Station and Swanwick Junction locations at the Midland Railway Trust offer the most amazing playground for this fabulous event. On the green at Swanwick, you'll find a curated Steampunk market with a few extra Steampunk exhibits added amongst the simply enormous number of permanent features.
