There are tons of book-related events coming up this year, and we want to keep you up to date on when and where you can find them! Book festivals can be extremely beneficial for self-published authors aiming to broaden their audience, connect with experts in the industry, and gain knowledge about the current publishing landscape.

Below, you'll find a list of upcoming festivals and events (big and small, national and international) scheduled for 2025, organized by date and state, that celebrate all things books! We'll be updating this list often, so be sure to come back and see what's been added. 

Consider attending an event in your area to maximize visibility of both you and your book.

California
October 9-25: Litquake—San Francisco
    • Litquake’s diverse live programs aim to inspire critical engagement with the key issues of the day, bring people together around the common humanity encapsulated in literature, and perpetuate a sense of literary community by providing a vibrant forum for Bay Area writing. 

October 31-November 1: Steamy Lit Con 2025—Anaheim

    • A romance book convention that aims to celebrate diversity in romance. SLC is an event consisting of two full days of building relationships, connecting with other romance readers and authors, and talking about your favorite fictional book bae. Features several different panels, keynote speakers, 8 hours total of time to get items and books signed by favorite romance authors. 

Massachusetts

October 24-26: Fall in Love New England—Marlborough

    • Romance readers meet, discover, and fan girl out to the fabulous, attending 2025 romance authors from all over the country. One full day of romance-themed games, author spotlights, author panels and book crafts that celebrate the romance genre.

October 25: Boston Book Festival—Boston

    • Celebrating the power of words to stimulate, agitate, unite, delight, and inspire, the Boston Book Festival presents year-round events culminating in an annual festival that promotes a culture of reading and ideas and enhances the vibrancy of the city.

South Carolina

October 24-26: Pat Conroy Literary Festival—Beaufort

    • The festival will commemorate Pat Conroy’s 80th  birthday and the 10th anniversary of the festival with a weekend of immersive literary events in Conroy’s beloved Beaufort—author conversations, readings and signings, writers workshops, exhibits and tours, performances, and celebratory gatherings in multiple lowcountry venues.

Tennessee

October 20-31: South Texas Book Festival—McAllen

    • Now in its 11th year, this multi-day celebration brings thousands of readers together for author sessions, fun activities, and shared experiences that reflect the stories and spirit of the region. This year's theme: "Celebrate Our Roots & Stories". 
Vermont
October 27-28: Norwich Military Writer's Symposium—Northfield
    • The only program of its kind at an American university, the Norwich University Military Writers’ Symposium convenes authors and experts in the fields of military history, intelligence, and current affairs to offer important perspectives on pressing global concerns. The theme is "The Shadow Front: Unconventional Approaches to Warfare."

West Virginia

October 25: West Virginia Book Festival—Charleston

    • An annual event for book lovers of all ages, featuring programs by local and international bestselling authors, a festival marketplace, and a used book sale, it takes place at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center in downtown Charleston.

Wisconsin

October 22-26: Chippewa Valley Book Festival—Eau Claire

    • The Chippewa Valley Book Festival celebrates the written word through author readings and book signings, school visits, and includes programs for writers of all ages. Offers many participation opportunities for residents in the Chippewa Valley and literary enthusiasts around the world.

October 23-26: Wisconsin Book Festival—Madison

    • Presented by Madison Public Library in partnership with Madison Public Library Foundation, this free, public author event celebrates books and sparks conversations. Each year, the festival creates a robust schedule of accomplished and new writers whose fiction, nonfiction, and poetry books appeal to all ages of readers.

NOVEMBER

California

November 7-9: The Twentynine Palms Book Festival—Twentynine Palms

    • The festival returns for its third edition as a three-day celebration of storytelling, creativity, and the unique heritage of the Mojave Desert. With a dynamic program designed to inspire readers, authors, and industry professionals, the festival aims to expand its reach while preserving its small-town charm and authenticity.

Colorado

November 20-23: NCTE Annual Convention—Denver

    • Join thousands of teachers, leaders, researchers, authors, and illustrators at the premier annual event for English language arts and literacy educators. Meet educators from around the country, have books signed by prominent authors, explore the publisher booths in the Exhibit Hall, and celebrate colleagues in the awards ceremony.

Delaware

November 8: Delaconn—Newark

    • A one-of-a-kind, intimate, author/reader event designed for book lovers that has attracted some incredible authors in a variety of genres. Admission is free for readers and guests. 

Florida

November 16-23: Miami Book Fair—Miami

    • For eight days in November, this fair transforms downtown Miami into a literary wonderland, hosting hundreds of critically acclaimed authors in three languages talking politics, pop culture, and all manner of impactful prose. 

Louisiana

November 1: Louisiana Book Festival—Baton Rouge

    • This free, annual event celebrates the love of books as well as authors from Louisiana and all over the world that are inspired by Louisiana.

Michigan

November 9: A2 Community Bookfest—Ann Arbor

    • Booksellers, publishers, authors, and more will be on the vendor floor from 10am-5pm and various activities for all ages, such as keynote author talks, hands-on crafts for kids and adults, storytimes, and discussion groups, will take place throughout the day.

Minnesota

November 7-9: Twin Cities ConMinneapolis
    • A fandom/pop culture expo convention that includes some authors and comic book creators among its exhibitors and guests.

November 8: The Twin Cities Book Festival—St. Paul

    • The state's longest-running book festival will now bring publishers, magazines, lit groups, libraries, rare book dealers, authors, and book lovers together at the St. Paul train hub.

Nevada

November 3-7: Author Nation 2025—Las Vegas**

    • The world’s largest author conference and multi-genre reader event, uniting authors, industry leaders, and readers for five transformative days of learning, networking, and growth.

New York

November 8: Rochester Children's Book Festival—Rochester

A fun, free celebration of literacy and learning where families can interact with around 50 authors and illustrators as they sign books for purchase. Featuring book-related crafts and picture book readings for children and author presentations for tweens and teens. 

Ohio

November 15: Books by the Banks—Cincinnati

    • A regional book festival featuring 100+ national, regional, and local authors. Includes author panel discussions on reading, writing, and publishing; a Kids' Corner with all-day fun for kids, a Teen Scene, and a writing contest in Prose and Poetry in teen and adult categories. 

Oregon

November 8: Portland Book Festival—Portland

    • The festival is packed with on-stage author conversations, interviews, panels, pop-up readings, drop-in writing workshops, live music, an expanded book fair and—in true Portland fashion—food trucks parked outside on festival day. 

South Carolina

November 7-16: Charleston Literary Festival—Charleston

    • A boutique literary festival that offers attendees the opportunity to engage with renowned authors in unique settings and to contribute to conversations around outstanding books and ideas. Programming is carefully curated on the basis of literary and artistic excellence, originality, and critical acclaim.

November 14-15: YALLFest—Charleston

    • The 15th anniversary of the nation's largest young adult book festival, featuring more than 70 YA authors from around the world, including authors Alex Aster, Melissa de la Cruz, Leah Johnson, E. Lockhart, Lauren Roberts, V.E. Schwab, Adam Silvera, Margaret Stohl, and Sabaa Tahir. Many featured events are free and open to the public, with a portion of programming dedicated to school outreach and community engagement.

Tennessee

November 21-22: WriterFest Nashville—Nashville**

    • A creative gathering for aspiring writers, published authors, screenwriters, poets, and songwriters. Attendees enjoy keynote talks by the best book, song, and screenplay writers in the business as well as in-depth break-out sessions with professional editors, literary agents, filmmakers, and music industry insiders.

Texas

November 8-9: Texas Book Festival—Austin

    • This festival is one of the nation's premier annual literary events. Hosted every fall in downtown Austin, it features over 250 authors of the year's best books and attracts 40,000 book lovers.

California

December 13-14: Comic Arts LA—Los Angeles

    • A free, public curated festival promoting the appreciation of comics, graphic novels, and sequential arts among the broader LA public. Aims to foster interactions among creators and readers by providing a diverse inclusive space to connect and discover new work. 

Illinois

December 19-21: Con+Alt+Delete—Chicago

An anime and comic convention where hundreds of anime fans participate in events filled with cosplay and fun. Meet thousands of fellow friends and anime fans in celebrating Japanese animation and nerd culture.

Australia

September 12: Whitsundays Writers Festival—Queensland**

    • Experience a 4 night Writing Intensive at Yangaro Resort, the Whitsundays Literary Heart Awards, Memoir Writing Workshops with Dr. Lindsay Simpson, Love Letter To Queensland event in Airlie Beach featuring the From the Heart keynote address by Dr. Anita Heiss, and much more.

September 13-14: Emerging Writers Festival—Melbourne**

    • As the centrepiece event of the Emerging Writers’ Festival, the National Writers’ Conference informs and inspires writers of all genres and styles, and features publishing professionals, fellow emerging writers, and literary virtuosos. Audiences will walk away with new friends, professional contacts, and a plethora of fresh knowledge and inspiration.

September 26-28: Lifeline Canberra: EPIC Bookfair—Canberra

    • A large gathering of book lovers comes together to enjoy a wide range of fiction and nonfiction books, children’s books, textbooks, and foreign language books.

Kenya

September 19-21: Macondo Literary Festival—Nairobi

    • Revolves around bringing diverse voices from all over the globe with writing centered around a specific topic. This years theme is "Chronicles and Currents".

September 24-28: Nairobi International Book Fair—Nairobi

    • Includes an extensive book exhibition featuring exhibitors from all over Kenya and abroad, book launches, various workshops and seminars, debates, children’s activities, and the Text Book Jomo Kenyatta Prize for Literature award ceremony. Most exhibitors are from Africa, but publishers from Asia, Europe, and North America are also featured. 

South Africa

September 5-7: Open Book Festival—Cape Town

    • Cape Town's biggest literary festival! Festival faves like Conversations with Mohale, Up Close with Maneo, and Writersports return, but there are also multiple opportunities to attend poetry readings and performances, and conversations that center a range of issues that affect everyone.

United Kingdom

September 26-27: Edinburgh Women's Fiction Festival—Edinburgh

    • A new literary festival celebrating writing for, by, and about women. We are an inclusive event and welcome everyone who finds joy in reading women's fiction—commercial, romance, historical, literary, book club and beyond. The festival showcases authors of genres that are often overlooked, and our aim is to give readers the opportunity to connect with their favorite writers.

October 4: Romance Author & Reader Events (RARE)—Melbourne**

October 18-19: Festival of Fiction—Perth**

    • The Festival is back—bigger and better than ever, with an all-star line-up featuring some of Australia’s best authors, publishers, and agents. Our popular 5-minute in-person pitching sessions are back for aspiring authors, with even more opportunities. 

Finland

October 23-26: Helsinki Book Fair—Helsinki 

    • A cultural forum of national significance that brings writers, politicians, artists, and experts together to discuss major phenomena of our time. Offers four days of new reads, discussions, and chances to meet writers and lovers of literature. 

Germany

October 15-18: Frankfurt Book Fair—Frankfurt**

    • Frankfurter Buchmesse is the defining fair for the print and digital content business, as well as an outstanding social and cultural event. Publishing experts and representatives of the creative industries, authors and celebrities, journalists and culture enthusiasts from around the globe will gather in Frankfurt to network and exchange ideas, to negotiate and make decisions, to discover and to celebrate.

Hungary

October 2-5: International Book Festival Budapest—Budapest

    • Hundreds of interesting programs, interviews, conversations, and book signings are held over the course of four days. The stands of international exhibitors, the European Writers’ Meeting, the discussions with the authors of the country of honour—which will be Romania this year—all contribute to a vibrant, international atmosphere at the festival.

Poland

October 23-26: Kraków International Book Fair—Kraków

    • The 27th largest International Book Fair in Krakow which is based on printing, culture, literature, Franchising, Books.

Serbia

October 25-November 2: The 68th International Belgrade Book Fair (UFI)—Belgrade

    • Through many promotions, presentations, lectures, round table conferences and public discussions, the participants present to the professional and general audience, many topics important for literature, publishing and culture.

Spain

October 7-9: Madrid Book Fair—Madrid**

    • Liber 2025, the International Book Fair that traditionally alternates its celebration with Barcelona, returns to Madrid to continue to be the great showcase for the Spanish book sector. This event will be the largest international meeting for books in Spanish.

Ukraine

October 2-5: International Literature Festival BookForum—Lviv

    • BookForum once again brings together all those who live by books: authors, publishers, readers, translators, and cultural figures. They're once again holding a book fair alongside the festival—and books will be available for purchase at the Palace of Arts.

United Kingdom

October 19: Black British Book Festival—Manchester

    • More than just an event—this is a movement dedicated to uplifting and celebrating Black British literature. Since its inception, BBBF has become a powerful platform for amplifying the voices and stories of Black British authors, creating spaces where diverse narratives can flourish, and nurturing a vibrant community committed to enhancing visibility and opportunities for Black British writers.

October 24-26: MCM London Comic Con—London

    • MCM London Comic Con takes place at excel London twice a year. Join us for your chance to meet some of the biggest actors across all media from TV & Film, to anime, to gaming. Our independent artists, creators and brands exhibiting on the show floor also grows every year. 

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER

Canada

November 19-23: Salon du Livre de Montréal—Montréal, QC

    • The largest French-language literary event in the Americas. The goal of the fair is to develop the desire to read through general information and direct promotion. From literary encounters and artistic performances to dialogues on contemporary challenges, it offers a rich and thought-provoking program, reflecting the spirit of its city: open, vibrant, and forward-looking.

China

November 14-16: China International Children's Book Fair—Shanghai

    • Not only is the fair a leading copyright hub for children's books, but it is also a premium platform offering marketing solutions and crossover possibilities for a wide range of industries.  Some of the most notable activities include the Conference & Seminars, the Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition, the Illustrators Avenue, the Children Plus Exhibition, and many other events to promote reading.

Croatia

November 11-16: Interliber—Zagreb

    • The fair places a particular emphasis on business and educational literature, complemented by a vast array of teaching materials showcased by numerous exhibitors. The offerings span from books and magazines to e-publishing and specialized business publications and educational materials. Highlights include book launches, interactions with national and international literary figures, signing sessions, and panel discussions.

Ireland

November 5-9: Dublin Book Festival—Dublin

    • Five days packed with captivating, thought-provoking, informative and entertaining literary and creative events. From authors in conversation, panel discussions on some of today’s most pressing issues, walking tours and poetry events, to book launches, special anniversary events, writing workshops, schools’ events, and a full weekend of free family events, there'll be something for all book lovers to enjoy.

December 4-8: Più Libri Più Liberi—Rome

    • Più libri più liberi (More Books, More Free) is the National Small and Medium-Sized Publishing Fair, promoted and organized by the Italian Publishers Association (Associazione Italiana Editori) with the aim of offering as many small publishing houses as possible a platform to showcase their work. The first Italian fair dedicated exclusively to independent publishing.

Mexico

November 29-December 8: Guadalajara International Book Fair—Guadalajara

    • This international book fair is the most important publishing gathering in Ibero-America. With business as one of its main goals, it's also a cultural festival in which authors from all continents and languages participate, and a forum for the academic discussion of the major issues of our time. 

Turkey

December 13-21: International Istanbul Book Fair—Istanbul

    • This fair has the distinction of being the oldest in its field and one of the largest fairs in Europe with nearly half a million visitors every year. One of the most important cultural events of the city, creating a great literary and cultural feast during the fair with hundreds of events.

UAE

November 5-16: Sharjah International Book Fair—Sharjah

    • A leading literary event that profiles the written work throughout the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Features a lineup of book signings, workshops, and panel discussions.

January 8-11: Key West Literary Seminar—Key West

    • A four-day literary celebration that explores the theme of the novel this year. Brings together acclaimed writers who share how the ties that bind shape the stories we tell.

 January 23-24: Sunshine State Book Festival—Gainesville

    • Authors from around Florida and the nation gather to talk about their writing, sell, and sign books. Includes a panel discussion, story time for kids, and more. It's recommended to check the Writers Alliance of Gainesville website closer to the event for the most up-to-date information.

       

January 24: JAX Urban Book Festival—Jacksonville

    • Features author interviews, book signings, networking, kids’ activities with free books, and a silent auction.

New Jersey

 January 16-19: Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway—Galloway

    • A participant-focused writers’ conference. Enjoy challenging and supportive workshops, insightful feedback, and an encouraging community. 

New Mexico

January 16-18: Albuquerque Comic Con—Albuquerque

    • New Mexico's premiere pop culture event, combining the brightest Comic and Media talent for the weekend. Organizers plan to make Albuquerque Comic Con 2026 even bigger, promising more celebrity guests, a larger cosplay contest, and new interactive experiences.

January 18: Biographers International Organization (BIO) Biography Lab—New York City

    • ONLINE—Features panels on current issues in biography and the craft of biography, including discussions on building suspense, getting into print, Black women's biography, and much more.

Alabama

February 26-28: Monroeville Literary Festival—Monroeville

    • Discover new authors, celebrate favorite writers and share great times with others who love Southern literature in the courtroom made famous by To Kill a Mockingbird.

 February 26-March 1: Left Coast Crime—San Francisco

    • An annual mystery convention sponsored by mystery fans, where readers, authors, critics, librarians, publishers, and other fans can gather to pursue their mutual interests.

February 26-28: Romantasy Book Con—Los Angeles

    • An immersive three-day event with 200+ authors and bookish vendors. Includes book signings, workshops, panels, custom cocktails, cosplay, raffles, a professional murder mystery performance, the signature Realm of Romantasy, and a Midnight Masquerade Ball.

February 5-8: F.R.E.S.H. Book Festival—Daytona Beach

    • More than 40 authors and editors convene to discuss their books and upcoming projects, and to share insight and wisdom related to their craft.The African American Children's Book Fair

February 5-8: Savannah Book Festival—Savannah

    • A four-day festival in Savannah’s Historic District in celebration of the written word and its role in improving the human experience. Authors with a book published within the calendar year of the Festival are invited to give 30-minute solo presentations and host book signings. Submissions for the 2026 Festival are open. 

February 13-15: Love Y'all Romance Book Fest—Atlanta

    • An annual celebration of romance, featuring 80 authors, two days of panels and signings, and exclusive author experiences. 

Kentucky

    • Brings together Kentucky women, femme writers, and their readers to meet, discuss, and share their love and appreciation of the written word.

Michigan

February (TBD): Black History Book Fair w/The Indie Authors—Wayne

    • Detroit Book City, in partnership with Party with a Tee, hosts its 3rd Annual Black History Month Book Fair w/ The Indie Authors. Residents and businesses in the Wayne area are welcome.

Missouri

February 7: Flirty in Kansas City—Kansas City

    • An awesome collection of authors comes together for a signing event in genres such as Romantic Suspense, FBI/Source Romance, and Paranormal Romance. Hosted by Eden Rose and Virginia Johnson.

Pennsylvania

February 7: African American Children's Book Fair—Philadelphia

    • One of the oldest and largest single-day events for children’s books in the country. It features nationally known bestselling authors and illustrators, many of whom have won some of the most prestigious literary awards.

February 23-26: 21st Annual Winter Institute (Wi2026)—Pittsburgh

    • ABA’s premiere four-day annual industry conference features educational programming for indie bookstores, as well as a pilot BIPOC bookseller pre-conference, keynote talks, author receptions, publisher parties, and dedicated time to network with booksellers, authors, and publishers from around the country.

    • A free bilingual book festival that celebrates emerging readers and those who create books for them. 

February 13-16: Little BIPOC Book Fest—Houston

    • The Little Fest is for children ages 3 to 10. A celebration centered on underrepresented voices through a showcase of literary works that feature Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and other creatives of marginalized communities.

February 28: San Antonio African American Book Festival—San Antonio

    • A festival committed to celebrating the power of Black literature, reinforcing the fact that representation matters, and encouraging black economics.

    • A free festival open to the public featuring middle grade and young adult authors that supports, promotes, and celebrates the joy of reading.

March 13-14: Tucson Festival of Books—Tucson

    • A community-wide celebration of literature that aims to improve literacy rates among children and adults. Proceeds that remain after festival expenses are contributed to local literacy programs.

March 6-7: Charlotte S. Huck Children's Literature Festival—Redlands

    • Each year, the festival brings together educators, librarians, parents, students, authors, illustrators, editors, and those interested in children’s literature for a unique combination of full conference and small group sessions.  Speakers include Loren Long, Lisa Yee, Jason Chin, and Nikki Grimes.

March 6-8: The Dreamers & Readers Festival—Dallas

March 7: Literary Women Festival of Authors—Long Beach

    • Organized by the Literary Women of Long Beach, the festival aims to make the work of contemporary women authors accessible to a wide audience, encourage new writers, celebrate the value of literature, and provide a cultural forum for the Long Beach community.

March 22: Pasadena Festival of Women Authors—Pasadena 

    • An annual literary event celebrating and showcasing the work of women writers. It features panel discussions, author talks, and book signings, providing a platform for both established and emerging female authors to connect with readers and fellow writers. 

March 28-30: WonderCon—Anaheim

    • Held by the Comic-Con International company, this event takes place every year and offers a variety of comics, original art, toys, and comics-related merchandise.

Florida

March 7: Southwest Florida Reading Festival—Fort Myers

    • A free event presented by the Lee County Library System to promote reading, literacy, and library services. Features author presentations, book signings, writing awards, and family fun.

    • An annual celebration of books and authors held in historic downtown Dahlonega, featuring authors from a variety of fiction and nonfiction genres.

March 7: North Texas Teen Book Festival—Irving

    • Features more than 42 panels throughout the day, in which favorite authors speak and answer audience questions. Each panel is thematically connected and loads of fun.

    • Previously known as the Suffolk Mystery Authors Festival, this event gives attendees the opportunity to connect with their favorite bestselling authors and up-and-coming writers, attend meet and greets, and buy and sell books.

 March 19-22: Virginia Festival of the Book—Charlottesville

    • The festival brings together writers and readers from across the nation to emphasize and celebrate the Virginia Center for the Book’s mission and Virginia Humanities’ vision. Their focus remains on accessibility and diversity and features a range of events for all, with many free and open to the public.

April 10: Children’s Literature Festival—Redlands

    • Brings together educators, librarians, parents, students, authors, illustrators, editors, and those interested in children’s literature for a unique combination of full conference and small group sessions.

April 18-19: Los Angeles Times Festival of Books—Los Angeles

      • Attracting approximately 160,000 people of all ages each year from Southern California and all around the country, this festival brings together the people who create books with the people who love to read them. Features include live bands, poetry readings, film screenings and artists creating their work on-site.

Florida

April 11: BAM! Festival—West Palm Beach

      • A book, art, and music festival held annually in downtown West Palm Beach, with the mission of providing a county-wide literary experience that brings together authors, teachers, students, families, and the community to share their love of books which will in turn promote literacy, encourage fellowship through education, exercise young minds with discussion, and inspire youth to reach high.

April 24-26: Word of South: A Festival of Literature and Music—Tallahassee

      • A  unique blend of writers and musicians and an exploration of the relationship between literature and music. The festival showcases authors who write about music, musicians who also are authors, authors and musicians trading places, and everything in between.

April 18: Midwest Literary Walk—Chelsea

    • Lit Walk is a series of author interviews or presentations, all hosted on the same day and held at different venues within walking distance from one another. April 2-5: Norwescon—SeaTac

    • The Pacific Northwest’s premier science fiction and fantasy convention and one of the largest regional science fiction and fantasy conventions in the United States. While maintaining a primarily literary focus, Norwescon is large enough to provide a venue for many of the other aspects of science fiction and fantasy and the interests of its fans such as anime, costuming, art, gaming, and much, much more.

  • A multi-day literary celebration at 9,000 feet—featuring readings workshops, kids' events, parties, panel discussions, and more. May 2: DSM Book FestivalDes Moines

    • The free, fun-filled event, presented by Beaverdale Books and Beaverdale Neighborhood Association, will be held at the Franklin Event Center. May 2: Annapolis Book Festival—Annapolis

    • Every year thousands of people enjoy this community free festival that celebrates the beauty, power, passion, and excitement of the written word. New Jersey

May 2-3: A Day or Two of Wine, Romance, and More!—Columbia

    • Book and wine lovers unite for the largest book signing event of its type in New Jersey. Over 50 local authors (from NJ, NY, PA, MD, DC, and Delaware) representing a wide range of genres will be on hand for this unique event. Grab a glass of wine, take a stroll, meet the authors and peruse their books. There's something for everyone here! 

May 2-9: Montclair Literary Festival—Montclair

    • A community-wide event that aims to exchange ideas, inspire future literary works, and engage with different points of view. Working closely with the Montclair Public Library, Watchung Booksellers, and a team of local volunteers, the festival will also generate lasting connections between arts institutions, the schools, and the community, benefiting a broad cross-section of participants and attendees.
